InterComponentWare AG (ICW)
InterComponentWare: Technology for Health

InterComponentWare (ICW), founded in Walldorf, Germany in 1998, is a leading international eHealth specialist: Where else do over 600 highly qualified specialists focus exclusively on the development of healthcare data information exchange platforms with solutions that connect physicians, hospitals, payers, and patients through tools that enable the streamlined, secure sharing of information?

LifeSensor: Connecting Patients to their Care Team
Launched in 2000, LifeSensor® was the first web-based Personal Health Record (PHR) in Germany. With LifeSensor, patients store and manage all important information about their current health status, medical history, results, images, and documents in one convenient and secure location. The patient, as the true owner of the record, grants authorization to other healthcare team members or care-givers to view, add or update information to all or specific sections of their PHR. LifeSensor is multi-lingual, easy to use, confidential, and most importantly, accessible at anytime or anyplace.

eHealth Infrastructure
ICW has developed state-of-the-art technology built on J2EE, .NET, PKI, and HL7 industry standards. The solution portfolio, including eHealth connector hardware, supports single sign-on, smart cards, web-services, smartphones, and remote patient monitoring devices. Strategic partnerships with other technology vendors such as Cisco enable efficient exchange of information across all platforms. ICW was involved in the roll-out of the Austrian eCard, has advised the German government on the implementation of a nationwide electronic health card and has recently won the pilot project for the national electronic health card in Bulgaria.

Hospital Connectivity
ICW facilitates the access and flow of information that streamlines communication within community hospitals and across integrated delivery networks. The ICW Hospital connectivity solution integrates with existing systems from multiple vendors, links isolated systems within multi-facility hospital environments and connects them with each other. In addition, the LifeSensor adapter allows for bi-directional exchange of information between the LifeSensor PHR and professional hospital information systems in clinics.

Physician Connectivity
ICW solutions connect existing Physician’s Practice Management Systems to the LifeSensor Personal Health Record and electronic patient records, thus allowing the transfer of information between physicians, clinics, hospitals, and other healthcare facilities, thus optimizing the quality of care for the patient.

ICW is committed to cooperating with providers and vendors delivering interoperable health information systems across connected healthcare communities. ICW’s suite of integrated offerings incorporates a standards-based architecture that reduces the costs of application integration and implementation. ICW is a rapidly growing international company with offices in Walldorf, Cologne and Berlin (Germany), Sofia (Bulgaria), Vienna (Austria), Zurich (Switzerland) and San Mateo (California).
